Attention, Delaware Book Lovers!

FYI: the "we" below refers to the conference organizers, not me and my many personalities.

THE 2ND ANNUAL DELAWARE BOOK FESTIVAL

http://www.debookfestival.lib.de.us

Our 2nd Annual Book Festival on November 3rd to be held at the First State Heritage Park in Dover. Log on the link above to see the venue of authors and activities for children and adults!

We are hoping that YOU may be interested in volunteering this year. We have several opportunities that day including:

¨ dressing up as a character such as; Pat the Bunny, Max and Ruby, and The Bernstein Bears

¨ working as an information booth volunteer

¨ children’s activity volunteer helping children make and take projects

The Festival is from 10am until 4pm and we will ask the volunteers to work a two hour shift.

If you have friends or teenagers that would be interested in volunteering that day we have several volunteer opportunities available. We have children’s activity volunteers, pavilion coordinators, author escorts (this would be an all day commitment), information booth volunteers, author introducers, and workshop host volunteer positions available.

If you have a preference just let us know which area interests you and what times you are available to volunteer. We will need everyone’s name, address, phone number and email if possible.

Also, we only ask that each person volunteer for 2 hours but we would love the help for all day. All day volunteers will be given lunch.

If interested, e-mail Jen Roussell, jroussell@doe.k12.de.us with 3 pieces of information:

1. Name

2. Time: 10-12, 12-2, 2-4 (you will need to report a half hour before your shift)

3. Work preference:

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the Delaware Book Festival.

Did we mention you get a cool tee to wear that day?

Good news at long last!

I can't believe it's been 21 weeks since my last blog post. What is WRONG with me? Apparently, I suck at being a blogger.

However.

I have some particularly tickling news to share:

Starting October 8th, the Lifetime TV movie adaptation of TRUE CONFESSIONS OF A HOLLYWOOD STARLET begins filming! I don't know too many details yet, except that JoJo (the pop singer-cum-actress) will be playing the role of Morgan Carter (anyone else see a slight resemblance to Lindsay Lohan?) and that Tim Matheson will be directing. Oh, and Kristen, my editor at Penguin, found out that Drew Barrymore will be filming an HBO movie in Toronto THE SAME TIME that TRUE CONFESSIONS is shooting there. How much would it kill to snag her for a cameo?

And for those of you who've been begging me for a third STARLET book? Looks like that might actually happen now, too.

Swimming in starlight,

A very special thank you to the lovely Laura Bowers for including me in her "Shop Talk" series. Laura is the author of BEAUTY SHOP FOR RENT, an incredibly charming and heartwarming YA novel which debuts May 1st. (I will be writing more about it at that time. For now, enjoy Laura's blog!)

Just found out that TRUE CONFESSIONS OF A HOLLYWOOD STARLET was named a 2007 Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults selection! It's on the "What's so Funny?" book list. I'm listed along with people like Gordon Korman! Sue Limb! Ned Vizzini!

I feel special.

Kudos to my good friend Laurie Faria Stolarz, whose BLUE IS FOR NIGHTMARES was named to the "Religion: Relationship with the Devine" list! Her books rock, and if you haven't read them, you totally should.

BTW, has anyone seen the promos for a Very Special Episode of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE airing in February? Hosted by (gasp!) DREW?

Bless [info]slayground and her list of senior superlatives. Morgan = most popular? I wonder what she'd think of that!

Final stops include Cindy Cruiger's blog and Valerie Frankel's site.

Also answered a fun survey over at Julie Kenner's My Life, My Universe, My Everything and another one at Sheila Curran's Falling Down, the Blog. Oh, and one more at Martha O'Connor's blogspot.

Thanks to all of the fierce, fabulous ladies of the GCC for a fantastic blog tour!

More from the GCC tour ...

Over at Tanya Lee Stone's blog I take the Bad Boy Quiz (fun!).

And at Stephanie Lehmann's Anything Good On?, I answer the TV Quiz (fun squared!).

Then, one of my favorite tour stops: Ellen Meister's Side Dish, where I get to cast a film version of MORE CONFESSIONS OF A HOLLYWOOD STARLET (how did I do?).

Other blog stops include Karin Gillespie's Southern Comfort; Joni Rogers' BookWoman; Sara Rosett's Rosett Writes; Becky Motew's Coupon's from the Edge; Kelly Parra's YA Fresh; and Deborah LeBlanc's From a Porch Swing.

And then there's: Lauren Barnholdt's blog; Shanna Swendson's journal; Melissa Senate's blog; Jennifer O'Connell's blog; Kyra Davis's MySpace blog; and Nichelle D. Tramble's blog.

There are a couple of lingering stops left to make (my fault entirely - I take "fashionably late" to a whole new level!), but then it will be back to your regularly scheduled programming.

So much to discuss! The TomKat wedding! The Kramer disaster! I can hardly keep up!

Just found out that TRUE CONFESSIONS OF A HOLLYWOOD STARLET has been nominated for the 2007-08 Eliot Rosewater Indiana High School Book Award! Super exciting stuff, especially since TRUE CONFESSIONS is something of a love letter to live in the Midwest. This East Coat brat is honored to be considered among such awesome writers as Alex Flinn, David Lubar, and Marcus Zusack, to name a few.

Final GCC tour update coming soon!
